Sarah Quaranta, MPH
Health Officer, Florida Department of Health in Franklin and Gulf Counties
Sarah Quaranta has served at the Florida Department of Health in Franklin and Gulf counties since 2008. She began as a family support worker and later as a health educator consultant, connecting patients to specialty health services and building partnerships to improve community health.
From 2012 through 2017, Sarah served as operations manager, overseeing health education, school health, and maternal/child health programs, as well as accreditation, strategic planning, and response support. She also served as public information officer, prioritizing clear and timely communication.
In 2017, she became assistant director, focusing on service delivery and business strategies. Since June 2018, Sarah has served as the administrator, leading both counties through the local health and medical response and recovery of Hurricane Michael, as well as other health emergencies. As a local health and medical incident commander, she continues to prioritize preparedness during “blue skies” to ensure effective response during “grey skies.”
Her philosophy centers on empowering staff and fostering community engagement to improve health outcomes, preparedness, and disaster recovery. Sarah earned a bachelor’s in Social Work from the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay in 2008, and a Masters of Public Health from the University of South Florida in 2015. She serves on several boards, including the Northwest Florida Early Learning Coalition, transportation disadvantaged and safety boards, The Home Alliance, and Ascension Sacred Heart on the Gulf.
