The Florida Department of Health in Franklin County’s (DOH-Franklin) Family Planning Clinic offers a variety of modern methods of birth control and appropriate referrals. Family Planning also provides information on abstinence.

Before you receive birth control through the DOH-Franklin, you will have a clinical exam by a nurse practitioner or doctor. This exam includes a pelvic and a pap test (If you are due for one) to screen for cervical cancer.

Methods of Birth Control

The DOH-Franklin offers several types of birth control, some require a prescription:

  • Condoms
  • IUD
  • Nexplanon
  • Birth control pills
  • Birth control shot/Depo Provera
  • Male/Female Sterilizations (Vasectomy or Tubal Ligation): We can provide a referral to a doctor who can perform this procedure.

Individuals have access to FDA-approved birth control methods and supplies, abstinence counseling, and information to all who want and are in need of these services. Services are provided on a sliding scale fee, based on family household income and size. Persons determined to have incomes up to 100% of poverty do not pay fees for services.

Services available include pregnancy testing and counseling, physical examinations, screening for hypertension, breast and cervical cancer, and sexually transmitted diseases, including HIV counseling and testing. Also available is counseling and education for health promotion and disease prevention. Follow-up and referral services are offered based on the individual's history and need for medical and/or social services.
