Port St. Joe, FL— The Florida Department of Health in Franklin and Gulf Counties encourages parents to have their children immunized as the new school year approaches. Local county health departments statewide are providing free immunization services for eligible children who are entering school for the first time and those who are returning to class in the upcoming school year. Parents of kindergartners and 7th graders are encouraged to review their children’s immunization record to ensure they are ready for the upcoming school year. As parents prepare to send their children back to school this fall, the Florida Department of Health is reminding them to add vaccines to their list of things to do. Getting these necessary vaccinations should be as much a rite of going back to school as picking up pencils and paper for the first day.
